Welcome to Belmar Green, a site about energy, the environment and sustainability issues and ideas.  For those you who might be unfamiliar with Belmar, we are a one-square-mile resort community on the New Jersey coast.

But this blog is about more than Belmar.

Because we are bounded by water on three sides, Belmar will be affected in a very real way by the decisions the world makes about reducing carbon emissions.   So we have a greater stake than most communities in how this all turns out.  After all, if residents of coastal towns like Belmar aren’t prepared to take steps to protect our environment and reduce our carbon footprint, how can we expect the rest of the country to do so?

Belmar Green is part of my contribution to saving energy, protecting our natural resources and improving the environment.  I hope it will also contribute in some small way to our national conversation about the environment and climate change.
